Dixie Contract Carpet and Interface Sponsor IIDA Coastal Empire City Center Slow Ride (Savannah, GA)

Dixie Contract Carpet, Inc teamed up with Interface Flor to sponsor the first IIDA (International Interior Design Association) Coastal Empire City Center "Savannah Slow Ride".   The Slow Ride is a bike ride through historical Savannah.  The best part about it is you get to ride the same bike with 15 of your friends!  Custom built bicycles include a front seat with full operational controls for the driver and 16 seats for participants to pedal the bike along while facing one another and enjoying each others company.  The sponsors had the ride customized for the interior designer group with stops in the most historic squares.  They even hired an architectural tour guide who gave historical background information, anecdotal information, and pointed out architectural features of all the highlighted structures.  Even SCAD faculty members along for the ride were commenting that they learned historical points that they had not learned before.

The event began at the historical "Crystal Beer Parlor".  Attendees signed in and enjoyed hors d' eouvres and drinks while the group gathered.  When it was time to leave the party was led to the back of the restaurant where the bikes awaited.  Due to the popularity of the event, two bikes were needed!  The architectural tour guide gave the group some pointers and an introduction to his planned tour.  All mounted their seats and began petalling!  The historical tour was alternated with local pub stops and lasted for two hours.

It was a fun evening of education, fun and friends!!
