Hello!  Welcome to the Dixie Contract Carpet blog!  Dixie Contract Carpet is a full service commercial flooring dealership based in Jacksonville, Florida.  We have just celebrated 50 years of business in the Jacksonville area and are excited about what the next 50 years will bring!

Our company was started by Leo Jacobson, who began his career in furniture sales moving him from New York to Jacksonville.  His first business ownership venture was a furniture dealership here in Jacksonville called “Dixie Furniture”.  One day he responded to an ad in a business newspaper about a new exciting flooring product called fusion bond carpet made in South Carolina and headquartered out of New York City.  One day after forgetting about the ad and the letter, a big Cadillac pulled up at Leo’s furniture store and the company executive from the carpet company had come to tell Leo he wanted to open him up as a dealer for the 54” sponge bonded carpet.  Leo’s first job with this carpet was a Winn Dixie grocery store!  It wasn’t long before the furniture store was closed and Dixie Contract Carpet, Inc. was in business!

30 years later, Leo’s son Sam joined the business from a career in fashion & merchandising with Burdines (now Macy’s), a division of Federated Department Stores.  Sam was fashion director for men’s fashions and had traveled the world staying on top of the hottest trends.  His fashion expertise helped Dixie reach common ground with local interior designers in specifying their flooring projects.
After 51 years, Dixie Contract Carpet is the largest privately owned commercial flooring dealership in North Florida.  We are a team of over 40 employees.  A significant amount of our installation jobs are performed by our own in house crews.  We have the financial capacity to perform any sized commercial job and stage flooring materials for projects in our 30,000 square foot warehouse.  We are the only member of the prestigious Starnet Worldwide Commercial Flooring Partnership in North Florida and Southern Georgia.  We have performed flooring installations in many parts of the United States in all segments of the commercial flooring market including government and municipal work.
